Coastal Cleanup update

The barrier islands will get a pass on Saturday’s annual Coastal Cleanup. They’ve been closed because of the government shutdown and even though the federal workers are now going back to work, the islands will remain closed for a bit longer.

The Department of Marine Resources has redistributed all of the supplies and the volunteers assigned to the islands to other cleanup locations.

This year’s Coastal Cleanup is the 25th.

In a perfect world, everybody would pick up after themselves and dispose of things properly and then we wouldn’t need to have cleanup programs. Just a thought.
