Building permits: Bay tops $1 million

Another work week, another building permit report from the Hancock County and Bay St. Louis building departments.

Four projects were permitted in Bay St. Louis last week (Aug. 13-17) with a total valuation of $1,169,031 and fees totaling $8,808. The one commercial permit was for remodeling the Hancock County Courthouse on Main Street. Valuation was $585,686 and fees were $4,172. J.O. Collins of Biloxi is the contractor.

The residential permits were for a remodel on Carroll Avenue and new residential buildings on Fiber Street and Deer Drive.

Hancock County issued seven permits totaling $223,235 and fees of $1,269. The one commercial permit was for a new telecommunications tower at 8825 Highway 607 owned by Illinois Municipal Retirement. No value was listed but the fees were $26.

The residential permits were for renovations to a house on Caesar Necaise Road, a new carport on Fleming Road, buildout of living quarters above a barn on Wendell Ladner Road, a new house on Road 317, two new barns, including one with a shop for agricultural use, on Highway 603 and a metal shed on Toxie Spence Road.
