The Hancock County Building Department issued permits for five projects during the week of May 27-June 1 totaling $189,091 in value and $808 in fees.

All the projects were residential: a hay barn on Highway 53, a metal carport on Samoa Road, a carport next to a house on Rayvan Lane, a new house on John Wimmer Road and an enclosure under an elevated house on Shawnee Street.

Also today the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch from late tonight through Thursday evening. Two to 4 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts are possible. Rain rates at times may approach 2 to 3 inches per hour. Dog owners, get the boots out.

Little or no wind this morning at the $600,000 bathroom. Clouds were great, though.
