Building permit recap: A whole lot of houses

Last week’s building permits in the Bay and Hancock County totaled $1.6 million.

Bay St. Louis issued five permits during the week of Sept. 2-6 totaling $669,276 in value and $5,409 in fees.

The one commercial permit was for an addition to Hancock Women’s Center at 1009 Benigno Lane. Its listed value was $500,000 with fees of $3,570.

The residential permits were for a bulkhead/pier on Iowa Street, a new house on Citizen, a pool on Leopold and demolition at North Beach.

Hancock County issued permits for six projects totaling $979,297 and fees of $3,907. All permits were for residential projects: new houses on Highway 603, St. Teresa Drive, Chickasaw Road and Standard Dedeaux Road, and a storage shed on North Railroad Avenue and fire repairs to a house on West Pike.
