Feast your eyes: Del Porto

Del Porto Ristorante

This contemporary Italian restaurant in downtown Covington appears on many a list of top New Orleans restaurants. Husband & wife chef-owners David and Torre Solazzo have resumes that include work at Napa Valley’s storied Tra Vigne, and they were semi-finalists for Best Chef in the South by the James Beard Foundation 2009, 2010 and 2011.

On this trip, lunch was a shared Good Food Farms Chicken Liver Paté, pickled red onions, fresh fruit marmellata, seasonal fruit, radishes and crostini followed by Grilled Sirloin Steak with mixed lettuces, Roma tomatoes, gorgonzola vinaigrette (!) and crispy red onions and House-Made Cavatelli with crispy potatoes, house-made Calabrese sausage, arugula, chili oil and Parmigiano Reggiano.
