Bay Christmas Parade to roll Sunday

Bay St. Louis The 6th Annual Bay St. Louis Christmas Parade will roll down its Old Town route Sunday, Dec. 1, starting at 1 p.m.

The parade will line up at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church on Necaise Avenue, turn right onto Main Street, right onto Beach Blvd., another right onto Court Street, a left onto Second Street, a right onto Union Street and end at the historic Train Depot.

Organizers promise, you guessed it, bigger and better: 30 units including floats, bands, Santa and Grand Marshall Emily Gruzinskas, the 2013 Hancock County Fair Queen. Look for classic cars and “locals on golf carts,” too. Lest you forget where you are.

After the parade, there will be activities for kids and families for the rest of the afternoon. There will be a Christmas-themed spacewalk, a booth of holiday sweets, and a Snowflakes and Sugarplums merch booth. Santa will be there to pose for photos with everybody. At dusk, the Hancock County Tourism Development Bureau hosts the annual Snowflakes in the Bay, the lighting of the giant snowflakes in the trees at the Depot.

Visit the festival Facebook page at www.facebook.com/snowflakesandsugarplums or the Hancock County Tourism Development Bureau’s website at www.mswestcoast.org.

And this reminder from Bay Books: The majority of the businesses in Old Town Bay Saint Louis will be open Sunday during the Christmas Parade.

  1. This might be just what I need to jump-start my Christmas spirit. Not feeling exactly Scroogey, neither am I humming “Joy to the World.” Thanks for the reminder.
