Old Town holiday events this week and beyond

BAY ST. LOUIS Old Town’s 50-plus shops, restaurants and services are offering a full calender of holiday events during December following last weekend’s kickoff with Small Business Saturday and Sunday’s Christmas parade.

Throughout December, Snowflakes in the Bay will be lighted in the oaks all around town. Old Town Merchants are open until 8 p.m. every Thursday through Christmas week. Enjoy specials, refreshments and other treats as you shop “Late Til Eight.”

This Thursday, Dec. 5, is Teacher Appreciation Night, featuring special deals for educators all over town. Social Chair, Gourmet Galley and George’s Girls will offer 10 percent off an entire purchase for all school employees, preschool workers and library employees. On Friday, Dec. 6, Bay Books is featuring a book signing with Chef John Besh from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, it’s the 2nd Annual Snowflakes and Sugarplums Festival at the Depot District with ice skating on an artificial rink, rides, music, vendors and more. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Santa will be available for photos from 1 to 3 p.m. Musicians from New Orleans to Mobile will perform on the Silver Slipper Casino Stage and Vince Vance and the Valiants will take the stage from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free but there’s a fee for ice skating.
