BAY ST. LOUIS Have a memory of the R.W. Webb Elementary School? You can share it Saturday, Dec. 7, as part of the building’s Centennial Celebration.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., USM’s Center for Oral History will record interviews of memories of the old school that was later a civic center and meeting place. It also played a part in Katrina recovery efforts and now is home to architect Larry Jaubert and his wife, writer Ellis Anderson.

The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Centennial Celebration oral history project is funded through a grant provided by the Mississippi Humanities Council.

  1. I wish I had better memories of this place. Was it still a school in the ’40s, early ’50s. I ought to be able to conjure images, but I’m blank on this.
