If you haven’t seen today’s Google Doodle honoring Rear Adm. Grace Hopper on her 107th birthday, take a look. I was lucky enough to hear Adm. Hopper speak years ago at the test site and even got an autograph. She was a highly accomplished and no-nonsense character, the first computer programmer to “debug” a computer, literally. And she abhorred hearing, “But we’ve always done it that way.” Google her name today to read about this pioneer.

  1. Lisa, I am a Graduate Student in the School of Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and enrolled in a project leadership course this summer. I was assigned a project to find an piece of autographed memorabilia from Grace Hopper and having a very difficult time finding anything she autographed. I saw in this blog post where you mentioned that you obtained an autograph from her several years ago. I would love to talk with you and see if you can assist me in successfully complete this project. Please contact me if you are willing to discuss. Thank you!
