Starting today, First Fridays are back at Lazy Magnolia. Sort of, given social distancing and all. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. From their announcement: “We will continue our traditions of live music, great beer, and pizza at The Porch. We are working on improving our outdoor spaces, we are closing off our parking lot, and we are working to create as many spaces as we possibly can to help everyone naturally practice social distancing. We will only have one band, but we will have extended hours for the first time since the Pandemic.”

A few of the new rules for First Friday:

1. No large groups (8-ish, direct families excluded)
2. Stay in groups within your normal social circle (family, work, etc…)
3. Our staff will be wearing masks
4. Use hand sanitizer when entering the building or approaching the bar
5. Give our staff space to sanitize surfaces throughout the evening
6. All food and drink will be served in disposable containers
7. Prefer cards 
8. No refillable containers (growlers, mugs, etc…)

And it’s Free Fishing Weekend …

The first weekend of National Fishing and Boating Week in June of each
year is designated as Free Fishing Weekend. On June 6 and June 7, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources wants anglers to know that any person may saltwater sport fish without a license in the marine waters of Mississippi (waters south of Interstate 10) during Free Fishing Weekend.

If you miss this weekend of free fishing, just wait a bit. July 4 of each year is designated as Free Saltwater Sport Fishing Day on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Any person may saltwater sport fish without a recreational saltwater fishing license on July 4 in the marine waters of Mississippi.

Although anglers are not required to have a recreational saltwater license for Free Fishing Weekend and Free Saltwater Sport Fishing Day, they still need to adhere to all size and possession limits.
