Singer/songwriter Will Kimbrough headlined Friday night’s kickoff of BSL Unplugged, a concert series that holds a lot of promise for live-music fans.
An added bonus of the evening: Libby Rae Watson opened the show, which was held in the cozy community center atop the Court Street parking garage. Sounds like an odd location but it’s a great venue.
Will gave his appreciative audience some of the best singing and playing you’re likely to hear anywhere. (Lesson learned: when David Barria says a musician is great, believe him.)
Will is an extraordinary musician who at times got so much out of his guitar playing that it sounded as though he had a band on stage with him. And he’s an excellent singer and songwriter (ask Jimmy Buffett and others) whose lyrics are smart, funny and poignant. And he’s cute. There, I said it.
If you’re not familiar with Will, who really should be more famous, look for him on YouTube and visit his website. His talents will get your attention in a hurry.
Looking forward to many more parking garage concerts in the future.
You are a neverending source of good information, my friend. I WILL investigate this talent. Need to do something to yank myself into 21st century music. Sorry, too much of a John Besh fan to ever go out to meet-and-greet him. I would gush and make a fool of myself.
