Best red beans? You decide.

CASA of Hancock County & the City of Diamondhead
host Red Bean Cook-Off

CASA of Hancock County is partnering with the City of Diamondhead to host its first-ever Red Bean Cook-Off from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, on the grounds of Diamondhead City Hall.

Thirty teams are vying for the title of having the Best Red Beans in Hancock County. Other awards include best cornbread, best non-traditional red bean dish, best decorated booth and people’s choice. A $10 entry fee buys unlimited red beans. Soft drinks, water, beer and homemade desserts will be available for purchase. This family-friendly event also includes live music by The Dave Mayley Band. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs, but no outside drinks are allowed.

Parker Contracting is the title sponsor of this year’s event.  “We are delighted to have such a good response from the community for this event. COVID may have pre-empted the Mardi Gras Gala this year, however we are continuing to find unique ways to make up for lost revenue,” said CASA executive director Cynthia Chauvin.

Tickets can be purchased in advance through Venmo @CASAHancockCounty or by visiting the CASA office. Day-of tickets will also be sold.
