BAY ST. LOUIS Having Social Chair named the best gift shop in Mississippi by the readers of Mississippi Magazine was a nice surprise for owner Yuki Northington. She found out about this latest honor when copies of the magazine’s Best of Mississippi edition arrived unexpectedly at the shop.

Social Chair is well known for its fun and funky collection of home decor and gifts, local art and some of the funniest greeting cards you’ll ever enjoy reading and giving.

Yuki said her customers are buying more jewelry than anything else. Social Chair’s trendy top sellers are Susan Shaw jewelry pieces in gold and tortoise shell and with “cotton ball” pearls. All of the pieces are hand made in Texas. Prices: $30 to $120.

Also popular are lightweight scarves that can be worn in different ways. Don’t fret over trying to figure it out, Yuki will show you how it’s done. Prices: $11-$20.

And as tempting as it is, please don’t sit in the two enormous Social Chairs. You can take them home for $2,415 each.
