Porker overboard! Pig Whisperer to the rescue

Did you hear about the local pig that went into the water during Harbor Fest? How it got in the water is up for debate but it definitely went overboard. Natalie Campen happened to be nearby and took photos of the rescue, which appeared on WLOX later that Sunday. You can still see the post on WLOX.com.

She showed the photos to Cindy Kenny and me right after the incident but we didn’t realize who the porker’s rescuer was until last Saturday night when Billy Kenny regaled us with his story of getting the pig back on dry land.

Billy, who once brought a pig to Thanksgiving dinner (I have photos to prove it), has been given the nickname The Pig Whisperer by Cindy.

These closeups from Natalie’s photos show Billy in action, coaxing the pig to paddle over to him and then getting it safely out of the water. As Billy declared: Not on my watch.

  1. Enjoyed getting the rest of the story. That pig is why I call that bar the The blind pig. Have seen him there several times as I drove by.

    • Yes, it truly is a local pig. Along with all the other “pets” our residents parade around with, even when there’s no festival!
I miss the lady pushing the duck in the stroller.
