NEW ORLEANS Congratulations to Mississippi Chef David Crews for winning the “King of American Seafood” honors over the weekend in New Orleans.

Chef Crews represented Mississippi after winning the 4th Annual Great Mississippi Seafood Cook Off in Biloxi May 31. The dish that won over us judges at the Slavonian Lodge was his Deconstructed Gumbo featuring Mississippi Gulf shrimp, oysters and crab.

At the 10th Annual Great American Seafood Cook Off Saturday, Crews went up against top chefs from around the country who prepared dishes with seafood native to their home state.

Chef Crews prepared Southern Nicoise Salad with tuna and lump crab.

He is executive chef of Six Shooter Land and Timber, a private land management and waterfowl habitat near Drew, Miss., and is personal chef to several private families. He lives in Cleveland, Miss.
