Heat advisory

How hot is it?

It could reach as high as 108 degrees this afternoon and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service in New Orleans. The heat advisory for Hancock County, updated at 2 p.m., remains in effect until 7 p.m.

Best obvious advice: stay out of the sun, stay inside in air conditioning, drink plenty of fluids and check on relatives and neighbors. Pets, too.

The dangerous heat this afternoon is the result of high pressure over Texas.
