Two areas around St. Joe’s Reef and the Pass Christian Reef reopened this morning for oyster tonging, officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources said Sunday.

This afternoon, Gov. Phil Bryant will sign an executive order creating The Governor’s Oyster Restoration and Resiliency Council. The council and its committees will meet over the next few months to find ways to help grow the Coast’s oyster industry.
