Water advisory lifted; tornado sirens to blast

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality said today it has lifted a water contact advisory issued Feb. 6 for the Waveland beach from Oak Boulevard east to Favre Street.

Water samples taken by the Gulf Coast Research Lab show the area has gotten back to acceptable bacteria levels.

In other government goings on, the city of Bay St. Louis is giving you a heads-up that it was test its tornado warning sirens and the Blackboard Connect Emergency Alert System tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. It’s part of Tornado Preparedness Week and a statewide tornado drill. Oh joy, can spring be far behind?

When the sirens sound, you’ll get a message saying it’s only a test. That is, if you’ve signed up for the notifications.

Go to the city’s website for more info on the Blackboard Connect system.
