Two new places to eat and shop for food in Jackson County:
The Gourmet Sweet Shoppe at 21180 Highway 613 in Hurley
is aptly named. It sells mini doughnuts, turnovers, croissants, muffins, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bars, brownies and chocolate dipped goodies. Rachel Backlin is the owner.
In Gautier, Howlin’ Gator at 3813 Highway 90 has a fresh fruit and produce market, fresh raw fish market and sells fresh sliced deli meats.
Owner James Joiner tells the state Health Department that in the near future he’ll add a deli that will serve wraps, soups and salads.
