CASA of Hancock County is holding a School Supply Drive for all CASA children in foster care as a result of being abused or neglected.

Community members are encouraged to donate basic school supplies such as book bags, scissors, erasers, loose leaf paper, pens, composition notebooks, three-ring binders, glue sticks, plastic folders, pencil pouches and colored pencils.

Donations can be dropped off at the CASA office at 412 Highway 90, Suite 3, Bay St. Louis or at any Hancock Bank location in the county. The deadline to drop off school supplies is Friday, July 31.

If you are interested in donating to the school supply drive but are not able to purchase supplies in person you can send a monetary donation to CASA for the purchase of supplies.

Cynthia Chauvin, CASA’s executive director, said, “It is amazing what having these basic school supplies can do for our kids’ self-esteem. Being prepared for school means our kids are ready to learn and that is a worry that many kids don’t have to face. However, for some kids it is a reality.”

CASA of Hancock County is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that utilizes trained community members to advocate for children who through no fault of their own are involved in the complex and overburdened child welfare and youth court systems.
