I waited my turn as a man sorted through the ice cream containers, trying to decide what to buy. So many choices.

The freezer’s glass door was frosted up so it was hard to tell if I was even waiting at the right spot. I haven’t bought ice cream all summer, or however long it’s been since the recall wiped the freezer shelves clean of Blue Bell products.

Finally the man noticed me standing by and showed me the container of New Orleans Ice Cream he’d selected. He said he started buying the brand as a Blue Bell substitute and recommended it. I settled on a pint of Creole Cream Cheese, one of several Blue Bell favorites.

Turns out, we might not have to wait TOO much longer for our beloved ice cream to be available again.

Here’s wishing for Blue Bell to return sooner than later, a cool breeze to replace this excessive heat and the 10th anniversary of Katrina to be behind us.

That’s not asking too much, is it?
