CASA needs advocates for Hancock County kids

Screen Shot 2015-08-11 at 9.08.29 AMCASA of Hancock County is recruiting volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in the Youth Court and DHS systems.

CASA volunteers become the voice of the children. They get to know all aspects of the child’s life and then let the judge and others in the system know the child’s perspective and needs.

CASA volunteers spend only 8 to 10 hours each month to provide one-on-one advocacy and gather information to provide an independent report for the Court with recommendations based solely on the child’s best interest.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend a one-hour informational meeting. Training classes begin the last week of August and go through September.
