A second helping of Coolinary

We’re a little over the halfway point in the Coolinary season in New Orleans, otherwise known as August. Special menus and deals end Aug. 31 so you still have time to treat yourself.

Our second helping to the $20 lunch offer was at Cafe Adelaide at 300 Poydras St.

Never mind that we had to sit in the adjacent Swizzle Stick Bar on a busy weekday. Having done research at other establishments over the years, I’ve declared the Swizzle Stick’s Sazerac the best around. But then there are those famous 25¢ martinis. Decisions, decisions.

Cafe Adelaide offers a Coolinary $20 lunch and $35 dinner menu Monday through Friday. Cuisine is Contemporary Louisiana and Creole. No dessert? No problem.

You can almost taste the crunch in those catfish, can’t you? And a drizzle of Sherry on the Commander’s Turtle Soup is always nice.

  1. The Hotel, the restaurant, the bar – what a great combination in NOLA.
And, love Coolinary – the Convention & Visitors Bureau came up with the idea years ago to get locals out to all the great restaurants during a time when the restaurants needed the business. Great idea, and excellent results. Congrats to Kim Priez at the CVB!

  2. It is a great marketing idea, and how else could some of us ever expect to eat in these places? Thanks so much, Lisa.
