Bay Council recap: Stay tuned.

Sanitary Sewer

I usually like to say that going to a City Council meeting is better than TV.

Last night I sat there for more than two hours thinking, “I wonder what’s on TV.”

Granted, the proceedings aren’t supposed to be entertaining, although with the cast of characters who assemble in the chamber, entertainment sometimes is a natural occurrence.

Last night was pretty routine. All of the Planning and Zoning  applications were approved as recommended by P&Z, which is always a happy coincidence.

There was a bit of a dustup between President Joey and Mayor Fillingame over the item “Council Clerk access to bank accounts.”

That one is to be continued, as is the discussion on whether to buy water from the Hancock County Utility Authority.

And as always there is eye rolling on some people’s part whenever the Trolley or anything having to do with Old Town is mentioned. Kind of like how, um, some people feel when they talk about canals and ditches.

FYI, the council ordered up nine new speed bumps so slow down out there.

And stay tuned on Dec. 22. That’s when the next meeting will be.
