Say what? The week in words.

The Front PageGoodness, it was a rough week for the spoken and written word. From retro-sounding crime reporting to raw (unedited) headlines to Sarah Palin speaking in, what? Alaskan? Here are a few standouts.

Sarah was more mystifying than usual in her stump speeches. Pity the poor transcribers.

“Well, and then, funny, ha ha, not funny, but now, what they’re doing is wailing, ‘Well, Trump and his Trumpeters, they’re not conservative enough.’ ”

This headline out of Pascagoula was wrong on a couple of levels:

At 16 he killed his family, at 37 he’ll getting another shot at sentencing.

An actual shooting involving an aspiring rapper evoked tabloid speak reminiscent of The Front Page and the 1920s.

The relative serenity at a Waveland barber college was shattered Thursday by a hail of bullets, when an argument between two men quickly escalated into a near unspeakable tragedy.
