Weather warning

A message from CITY OF BAY ST. LOUIS

This is a public safety weather alert message from the City of Bay St. Louis.  Our area is under a coastal flood advisory, and very heavy rains are predicted.

Numerous streets in low lying areas, including the Shoreline Park area, are already flooded and are impassable at this time.  Forecasters expect this situation to worsen as heavy rains approach our area.

Do not drive on roads that are covered by water even if the water looks shallow.  Vehicles are easily washed off of roadways that are barely covered with water.  Turn around, don’t drown!

First responders may take longer than usual to get to you if you remain in an area that is known for flooding.

If we receive heavy rains for an extended period of time, areas that do not usually flood may do so.

If you live in flood prone areas and you require medical care for yourself or a family member, make arrangements now to leave that area.

If you need groceries or other supplies, get them now. Do not wait until heavy rains begin.  Make arrangements for outdoor pets or livestock, do not leave them in flooded areas.

Monitor our local weather and news channels and social media for updated information on this weather event.  Follow the instructions of emergency officials.  Do not drive on flooded roadways.  If you have an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
