UPDATE: Seawall area gets new sod, clean pipes

BAY ST. LOUIS Here’s the latest on the seawall troubles near the U.S. 90 bridge along Beach Boulevard: Corps of Engineers spokesman Pat Robbins says, “The drainage system work continues with the contractor placing sod on the area behind the seawall. This is an area impacted by windblown sand and sod should help facilitate proper drainage of rainwater.

“Our hydraulic and geotechnical engineering team was on site with the contractor inspecting the newly cleared drainage piping and taking land elevation surveys in preparation for design of drainage system improvements.”

More to come on the planned drainage fix.
