Water contact advisories still in effect

Advisory signThe Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality lifted the water contact advisory for the Gulfport Harbor Beach this morning but five other stations are still under advisories issued April 2.

►Station 2 — Buccaneer State Park Beach — from 100 yards west of sign
eastward to 100 yards east of sign.

►Station 3 – Waveland Beach – from Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.

►Station 4 — Bay St. Louis Beach – from Box Culvert eastward to
Ballantine Street.

►Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach – Fort Henry Avenue to Elliot
Street.

►Station 10 — Gulfport Central Beach – from Alfonso Drive to Arkansas
Avenue.

If you or someone you know must get in the water, consider this option:

Dog in ditch

  1. Dr. Martinolich (sp), when he was our g.p., used to haul all us kids in at the beginning of summer and give us tetanus AND typhoid shots. I hope I’m not dreaming this. He worried about our open ditches draining into the Sound, and he knew we’d be swimming in and swallowing it anyway. Has there ever been a better family doctor? I got my first polio vaccine from him.
