Who makes the best burger?

If you saw USA Today’s Best Burgers in the USA feature on the web site this morning, you’ll see they named the Hamburger Po’ Boy from the Blow Fly among the 13 best.

The burger, the paper says, is not for the neat. “Two grilled ground chuck patties are served on a 9-inch loaf of real New Orleans French bread and then slathered with mayo, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and pickle (cheese optional).”

I say USA Today hasn’t been to Cypress Cafe in Bay St. Louis and tasted a gourmet Golden State Burger prepared by Holly’s kitchen. It’s a special item not on the menu and definitely worth the wait. The Golden State is a tasty spin on the classic burger that’s served with organic lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, pesto mayo and Monterey jack on an amazing pretzel bun. Try one at Second Saturday next weekend!

It’s the best burger I’ve had lately. What’s your favorite burger?

  1. Ok I am now hungry. Gotta do a new survey cuz the last good burger I had was memorial weekend. It was from Starfish on the street.
If you have a contest. I want to be a judge.

  2. OK, this is a tough one, especially since I learned Rickey’s no longer makes a Swampburger. It’s now something else in name and, in my opinion, swampiness. Never had that Golden State concoction at Cypress. I’m told the burgers at the Project Lounge in Biloxi (Iberville Drive I think, between Pass Road and Irish Hill Drive) are really good. We could eat our way into a heart attack trying them all. And honestly, if I’m going to the Blow Fly, it won’t be for a burger.
