Road trip: Bob Dylan & a bistro

NOMA exteriorTurns out, singer-songwriter-author Bob Dylan can paint, too. Some of his locally-inspired work is at the New Orleans Museum of Art through July 31.

There’s also in interesting collection called Self-Taught Genius there’s up until May 22. Think outside-the-box folk art.

And, of course, there’s a gift shop. What’s a cultural outing without some retail involved.

The museum is closed Mondays. Call 504.658.4100 or search NOMA.org.

A little lunch, some art, perfect weather. Not a bad way to spend a weekday.

It had been too long since my last lunch at Cafe Degas, the popular bistro on Esplanade, near the museum, that has a special, comfortable feel and delicious French menu.

An $18 Prix Fixe lunch is available Wednesday through Friday. Two courses, choice of appetizer and entrée.  $5 glass of sparkling wine or mimosa. A deal, yes?

Behold the savory Crab & Andouille Cheesecake and seared hanger steak with crispy pommes frites, the kind you can’t stop eating even though you kind of try.

  1. Lisa, you live a charmed life. I go to the gym (sometimes), cut grass, go to work (sometimes) and cook (sometimes)

  2. Lisa, thank you so much for reminding me to put the NOLA Museum on my summer list. I haven’t been in years. And Bob Dylan? A double treat.

    Love ya,
    Mary Aka Tantie
