Ready for Cuz’s?

Cuz’s Old Town Oyster Bar & Grill at 108 South Beach Blvd. will be open for business at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Owners Cuz and Christy Barnes will offer the same seafood-filled menu as the one at their popular restaurant on Highway 603, and then some. There will be the signature boiled seafood, appetizers, fried seafood, homemade gumbo, homemade seafood bisque and more.

”We’re bringing the whole show to the beach,” Cuz said as final preparations were being made for Wednesday’s opening.

Cynthia Williams, nicknamed Flossy by Cuz, will be in the new kitchen cooking Creole gumbo and other delicious dishes, just as she did the past five years at the original restaurant. “She amps up the volume on everything,” Christy said.

Cuz’s new restaurant will take up most of the bottom floor of the French Settlement building next to Hancock Bank in downtown Bay St. Louis. The dining room has tables, booths and a full bar. More seating will be available in the courtyard, just in time for the fall weather and Cruisin’ the Coast.

Cuz’s will soon open a full daiquiri shop and sell the restaurant’s own T shirts in the adjacent space previously occupied by the Bonner Collection. In the meantime, there’s a small daiquiri machine in the bar.

There are plans to serve coffee, beignets and other breakfast items throughout the day. Hours will be extended for early morning and late night service.

For now, Cuz’s will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
