How’d they do that? Learn how Pass schools rank No. 1

The public is invited to the premiere next week of a documentary on the Pass Christian School District, the number one school district in the state for five years in a row.

The documentary, Minds of Mississippi: The Story of Pass Christian, shows how learning tools known as Thinking Maps have helped students and teachers reach the top ranks of academic performance, even in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The nonprofit Thinking Foundation will host the premiere along with the Pass School District Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. at the Fleming Education Center Auditorium, USM Gulf Coast Campus in Long Beach.

School and foundation officials will be on hand, including Dr. Lynn House, State Superintendent of Education; Beth John, superintendent of the Pass Christian School District; Suzanne Ishee, teacher and Minds of Mississippi Grant-Writer; Dr. David Hyerle, creator of Thinking Maps and founder of Thinking Foundation; Kevin Dougherty, national director of Thinking Maps Inc.; and Dr.
Marjann Ball, director, Educational Consultants.

You can get a preview of the documentary on Thinking Foundation’s website (www.thinkingfoundation.org).

  1. I was going to post something ugly and suspicious, but instead I will congratulate Pass schools and hope they achieved this honor by actually teaching their students things they need to know.
