River City BBQ now open

River City BBQ opened this week at 818 Highway 90 in Bay St. Louis, next door to the much anticipated but still not open Avocado’s restaurant.

River City BBQ owner Angela Bethel is now serving smoked pulled pork and smoked brisket sandwiches, plus alligator hot dogs, along with combo plates and sides. The combo plate choices are smoked pulled pork, smoked brisket, chicken and pork ribs.
Most of the meats come from the huge smoker built by co-owner Darin Zech that can handle 500 pounds of meat. A smaller version is outside the front door of River City BBQ and on Tuesday it was filled with great looking ribs.
Angela uses a dry rub on the smoked chicken, pork and beef, and serves sauce on the side.
Look for specials available Thursdays and Fridays including a salad featuring brined, smoked catfish flavored with ginger, apple juice and various citrus, shredded and served with a secret sauce.
Coming soon: desserts and delivery service.
River City BBQ is open Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, Avocado’s owners are waiting on a liquor license. Stay tuned.
