Ground Zero Hurricane Museum hosts Katrina service today

An open house and prayer service on the 12th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina will be held today at the Ground Zero Hurricane Museum at the Waveland Civic Center on Coleman Avenue from 9 a.m – 11 a.m. The prayer service will be at 10 a.m.  Following the service, a wreath will be laid at the city’s Katrina memorial.

“Every year, we remember those we lost and thank God for giving us the resources and the strength to rebuild our communities,” said LiLi Stahler Murphy, chairman of the board and founder of the museum.

“This week, our thoughts and prayers are with those in need who are suffering from the devastation brought to our friends in Texas from Hurricane Harvey,” said Murphy.  “One of the most important things we can do as a community in response to Harvey is to give back. Thousands of volunteers came to help us after Katrina and gave us so much hope.”
