Weekly building permits & another beach advisory

Here’s your weekly building permit report for July 16-20:
The Hancock County Building Department issued four permits for a total value of $284,516 and fees of $1,440. All four permits were for residential projects: a house on Kelly Road, a steel building with utilities on Standard Cemetery Road, a barn near a well next to a house on Anner Road and a new house on Firetower Road.
The Bay St. Louis Building Department issued four permits last week. Total valuation was $655,602 and fees were $4,854. All were residential projects, including new houses on Thomas Shields Boulevard, Texas Street and Wolfe Street. One permit was for a miscellaneous residential building on Teal Street.
MDEQ Issues Beach Advisory for Station 1 in Bay St. Louis
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued a water contact advisory Thursday for Station 1 (Lakeshore Beach) in Bay St. Louis. This segment of beach is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in this area.
The advisory is issued for Lakeshore Beach from the Silver Slipper Casino east to Pointset Avenue. When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, MDEQ will lift the advisory.
