Craving BBQ, tamales or poboys? Try these new places

The state Health Department today OK’d Murky Waters BBQ & Blues to open at 1212 Government St.
in Ocean Springs. Owners Thomas Young and Brandon Atwell are serving a full BBQ menu and Blues entertainment.

Here are two new places to eat in Picayune:

JC & Co. at 841 Caesar Road has a tiny menu with snowballs and homemade tamales.
It’s open Monday through Saturday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Michelle Bergeron is the owner.

Nick’s Meat Market at 235 Highway 11 offers up soups, salads, deli sandwiches, hamburgers and sausage poboys. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m.Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nicky Adelfio is the owner.

  1. Haven’t been to Murky Waters yet, but just down Government St. (going east) is Pleasant’s and it is wonderful. Michael is carrying on his family’s tradition, including bottling their sauce. The pulled pork is my favorite, but then again, I’ve not had anything I don’t like. They have a great daily lunch special and the Friday fried catfish is the best in town.
