New OLA principal selected

imageDarnell Cuevas has been selected as principal of Our Lady Academy, the only all-female Catholic school in Mississippi.

Cuevas has 18 years experience in educational administration at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Recently, she served as an interim building principal at Hancock High School and principal at Resurrection Catholic Middle/High School in Pascagoula.

Her credentials include a Master of Educational Administration, a Master of Business Education with a minor in Secondary English and a Bachelor of Science in Business Education all from the University of Southern Mississippi. Cuevas was named Mississippi Middle School Principal of the Year for the 1999-2000 school year.

“It is a blessing to our community and school that we have hired a principal with the administrative experience and lived faith that Darnell Cuevas brings to Our Lady Academy” said Father Mike O’Connor, pastor of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Parish, in announcing her selection.
