dvam2015October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Gulf Coast Women’s Center for Nonviolence Advisory Board is bringing attention to the issue by asking people to wear purple on Thursdays in October or to wear a purple ribbon.

You may have noticed the purple and the pink ribbons on the light poles on Highway 90. They were placed in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Proclamations in support of Domestic Abuse Awareness will be read this week at the Hancock County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday at 9 a.m.; the Bay St. Louis City Council meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.; and the Diamondhead City Council meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m.

You can show your support by attending one of these meetings.

The big fundraiser for the Gulf Coast Women’s Center for Nonviolence will be held Oct. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Redding House in Biloxi. Tickets for the 7th Annual Moonlight Masquerade are $60 per person and may be purchased online at www.gcwcfn.org.
