Hancock County Boys & Girls Club to host live auction, Italian dinner

BAY ST. LOUIS Want an acoustic guitar autographed by LeAnn Rimes? Wedgewood china? Need a bike or diving gear? Furniture?

Those are some of the 300 items to be auctioned off Sunday, Nov. 10, to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast in Hancock County.

The live auction, the first for the club here, will be held at 310 Old Spanish Trail. Jack Schnornick is the auctioneer.

Doors open at noon and the auction will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. As part of the fundraiser, you can enjoy an Italian dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for $10. That’s pasta with meatballs in marinara sauce, garlic bread, salad, green beans and a drink. Dine in or carry out. The meal is provided by the Silver Slipper Casino. Dessert will be available for purchase to benefit the Keystone Club. Other snacks will be available during the preview and auction.

Tickets for the dinner are being presold at the Hancock County club and from board members.

The Hancock club is in the renovated Valena C. Jones Center and serves 250 to 300 youth a day.

  1. Puts me in mind of the ubiquitous fundraising “spaghetti suppers” of my youth, though this one sounds up-a-notch fancier. And a more than worthy cause. I’ve interviewed Boys & Girls Clubs alumnae who almost to a person say if it hadn’t been for the club, they’d have ended up on the wrong side of the law. OK, so spaghetti for supper Sunday? All agreed?
