The Bay Council finally voted last night to proceed with the purchase of the fire truck that nobody opposed in the first place.

The vote was preceded by a dizzying discussion of purchase orders, procedures, liability and even errors and omissions insurance.

There also was a circuitous discourse on social media policy and practices.
At one point it was suggested that comments on the PD’s Facebook page be blocked but the chief said that would halt tips that might lead to arrests.
