UPDATED Aug. 3 – In spite of what you may have heard, Bikini Trim is a typical men’s and women’s hair salon and barber shop. There’s even a twirling barber pole out front at 203 A North 2nd St.

“There’s no bikini waxing, there’s no wearing bikinis,” says manager Erin Mullaney.

The name of the shop apparently has caused some confusion about what kinds of services were being offered. Plainly put, Erin says, “We’re close to the beach and we cut hair.” Period.
Uniforms for the salon do match the beach theme: Tank tops with the shop’s logo.

Salon co-owners Jane Alford and Kevin Kulpeksa also have opened up a beachy apparel and gift shop next door called Bay-Tique which specializes in local art and Bay St Louis T-shirts and hats. They carry brands such as Sanuk, Billabong and Quiksilver.

Erin said they plan to use open other Bikini Trim salons, first in Gulfport and then at other locations on the Coast. “We’re doing one at a time,” she said.

Bikini Trim is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Monday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 228-467-2777.
