UPDATE Chamber of Commerce lease on Bay Council agenda

UPDATE The Bay St. Louis City Council voted today to get a commercial appraisal on 111 Court St. The Chamber of Commerce lease wasn’t discussed.

BAY ST. LOUIS Tuesday’s City Council meeting agenda lists the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce lease under new business items along with surplus of 111 Court St., which is the address of the chamber office.

The city leases the building in kind to the chamber. The lease must be renewed by the newly elected council.

Last week the Sea Coast Echo reported that Ellis Realty said it planned “to inquire into the status of availability of city property at 111 Court St.” for office space.

Rod Ward, listed as an agent of Ellis Realty, presented the proposal to the city, the paper said.

The agenda also includes Planning and Zoning recommendations.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.

  1. I sure hope the council does not sell off all the city assets simply to pay for some paving which won’t last for more than a couple of years. This is a bad decision by the city council.

  2. The City of Bay St Louis needs to concentrate on running the municipality and not worry about being a landlord.
